NBC Writer David Wolinski recently interviewed our very own Joe Perrino on how to break into the Frozen Food Market.

Regardless of who you think makes the best pizza in Chicago, if you've ever bought groceries here or craved one of those fancy Italian pies, you've undoubtedly heard of Home Run Inn. The company recently celebrated its 65th birthday, and in addition to being in the frozen section, it has restaurants in 25 of these 50 states. But no where is its presence stronger than right here. Heck, in the last two decades, Joe Perrino, the CEO, has opened six more pizzerias in the Chicagoland area, and is going to add a seventh in Beverly soon.

But the thing about Home Run Inn's success is it's totally plausible that some people have never been to the restaurants and only know of the company from its frozen pizzas. That's why I gave Perrino a call to discuss how they broke into that sector and how others can as well.

We know the holiday season can put a strain on budgets with Christmas gifts, parties, and other holiday festivities. Below are some ideas on how to make your dollars stretch farther as well as tips on how you can keep enjoying Chicago’s best pizza on a budget as well.

Make a list and check it twice. Avoid overspending and impulse buying by creating a list before you leave the house, and make a vow to stick to it, whether it’s at the grocery store or holiday gift shopping.

Be sure to go through the newspaper before you hit the shops. Chances are you’ll find coupons to the stores you were planning to visit for the items you put on your list above. If you don’t get the paper or can’t find a coupon in the paper for the store you want, go online. Many retailers provide coupons on their website that you can print and use in store.  If you join the Home Run Inn Frozen MVP Club you will receive special offers and promotions as well as a chance to win a Free Pizza Value pack valued at $59.99 that includes 3 Twelve Inch, 2 Ultra Thin, and 8 Six Inch Home Run Inn Frozen Pizzas!

Hungry for dinner and savings? Bring the pizzeria to your house with a frozen pizza instead of going out. Save even more when you buy your favorite Chicago frozen pizzas by Home Run Inn in bulk at the grocery store.

Looking to grab a meal while you’re out holiday shopping? Find your local Home Run Inn pizzeria on our website for specials on your favorite Chicago pizza. Take advantage of our Chicago Pizza Feast on Wednesdays or our Friday lunch buffet featuring - you guessed it - Chicago’s best pizza.

Look for more tips coming soon!

Sincerely,

Home Run Inn Pizza

As a landmark Chicago pizzeria, Home Run Inn knows cold Chicago winters and we know our favorite way to stay warm is with a piping hot Chicago pizza from Home Run Inn. Cooking one of our frozen pizzas allows you to recreate our famous pizzeria taste without leaving the comfort and warmth of your own home. Running the oven to cook a Home Run Inn frozen pizza will also warm up your kitchen and surrounding area, giving your furnace a much needed break in the cold Chicago evenings. While you’ve got the oven on and running, why not throw in a batch of Christmas cookies or other baked treat for dessert after your family enjoys a Chicago pizza dinner.

Here are some other ideas for staying warm and keeping your heating bill modest.
    - Insulate windows to keep out the cold and upgrade your curtains to energy efficient curtains.
    - Use a space heater or fireplace to warm the room you’re in, while keeping the temperature lower in unoccupied rooms.
    - Throw on your favorite Chicago sports team sweatshirt if you get chilly instead of turning up the heat.
    - Block drafts by placing a rolled up blanket or towel in front of doors.
    - Take advantage of sunny days by opening window treatments and letting the sun help heat up the room.

Hopefully these ideas help you and your family stay a little warmer this winter.

Stay Warm!
