1981 - The second expansion
The landmark location adds even more space for fans and families. This time, the Perrino family adds a private party room and enough seating for 500 customers.
1987 - The second pizzeria
Home Run Inn opens a new pizzeria in Darien, serving the classic family recipe to even more of the Chicagoland area. Over the next two decades, Home Run Inn will open six more pizzerias in the area.
1988 - Pizzas by the thousands
The first USDA frozen pizza plant is built next-door to the original pizzeria. It produces nearly 10,000 frozen pizzas per day for grocery stores and chains in the Chicagoland region.
1990 - Home Run Inn across America
Home Run Inn begins selling frozen pizzas nationwide, giving pizza-lovers all over the country the same, exact pizza that Chicagoans have loved for decades.
This same year, Home Run Inn enters the annual Taste of Chicago.
1991-1996 - The Best of the Taste
One year after joining the Taste of Chicago, Home Run Inn wins #1 Pizza six years in a row.
1993 - Home Run Inn opens in Arlington Heights
Home Run Inn opens a third pizzeria in Arlington Heights, IL.
1995 - The First Pizza Express Location opens in Melrose Park
The first Home Run Inn Pizza Express operation is opened in the Jewel Food Store on North Avenue in Melrose Park. Only pizza and a few appetizers are available.
1996 - The Second USDA Plant is built in Woodridge
As the frozen pizza business grew, the company needed to expand. Home Run Inn built its second USDA plant in Woodridge, Illinois. The plant is 44,000 square feet.
1997 - The Second Pizza Express location in opened in Westmont
The second Home Run Inn Pizza Express location is opened in the Jewel Food Store on the corner of Ogden and Cass Avenue in Westmont, Illinois.
1998 - The Fourth Pizzeria is opened in Bellwood
Home Run Inn’s fourth pizzeria is opened in Bellwood, Illinois
